In the Rose City, soccer fans are as dynamic as the action on the field. I was fortunate enough to cover the Portland Timbers’ first four seasons in Major League Soccer for the Portland Mercury, helping chart the continued rise of Stumptown supporter culture with a lighthearted voice that made the beautiful game accessible to alt weekly readers.

The teams were big-league, but I kept the community of readers in mind with feature stories, live blogs, spot news pieces, postgame pressers, and many late nights in the press box tweeting quotes to fans now firmly planted at a pub, reliving the matches.
